Sleepy Post

This post is dedicated to all involuntarily suffering from sleep deprivation (I know there are many out there)
Woke up at 0500 hrs today, had to do some college work. Got in front of the mirror above the bathroom sink, the brain gave me a signal that I had to perform a task....brush my teeth. Oh yes I remember...brush my teeth, how? The brain again instructed me to pick up the tooth brush from the cabinet on which the mirror was. As the cabinet opened the image of some sleepy guy disappeared and few choices were in front of me. Which one is my brush? Yes, the Blue one. OK, pick it up. Now what next? Yes, paste. The rack besides the cabinet had two tubes waiting. One was a standard Colgate tube, still sleeping, and another was Gillette shave gel tube, standing short but awake. My hands went towards the Colgate tube, opened the cap, and spread a nice paste on the brush. It was green in colour, smelled great, and quickly spread all over the bristles. beep beep beep : ERROR. Didn't my eyes see what tube my hand picked up?
Why is this sleep deprivation thing affecting every one, especially the ones in their final year of engineering ?

The Beating Retreat

I know many of the journalists observing Mumbai may have written about this every year, but its the time The Beating Retreat happening out here. Well, every year when the rains are about to stop, they do it in style, by rumbling clouds with a light drizzle of rains, making the atmosphere just like in any small hill station. Evenings are right from postcards, with yellow tinge to the surrounding, lovely to spend them in the terrace, with a good book. I recall having a similar chapter describing the rains in the city in my ninth grade or so.

For the regular readers, heres the regular dose of "Rick Rants". This time, I was with one of my friends, giving me a lift home, stays a few buildings away from me. Well half the way we saw the meter running at one change per 10 seconds and then one change per 5 seconds !! My friend got the chills and his face started turning pale. He started the pre-negotiation about the fare, and started giving the rick driver all the validations of him not paying more than what it costs everyday. The rick guy just gave him one answer "the spring must have failed", on every point he gave, sort of fun watching both argue ;-). Don't know what happened later, forgot to ask.

My computer is working fine now. Finally got the RAM upgraded, or rather added would be an appropriated word, it was 128 before, now, after adding 256, its an odd figure of 384 MB, ever heard of 384 RAM before? Well I didn't feel like investing more on a 6 year old Pentium 4 machine.

My Lists

Vehicle, Location, Terrain, Music, Year

Mitsubishi Lancer, Mumbai-Gujerat National Highway, Hills-straight road, Khamoshi OST, 1997
Bus, Bhandardara, Hilly, Dil se OST, 1997
Toyata Qualis, Mahabaleshwar, Mountainous, Main Hoon Naa OST, 2004
Bus (so called Volvo), Mumbai Pune Expressway, Hills and tunnels, Dil Chahta Hai OST, 2004
Tata Indigo, Mount Abu - Rajasthan, Hills and desert, Fanaa OST, 2006

In every vacation, there are these four variables (we can have two vacations in a year), and they become markers for the music we listen to in that trip and the vehicle we travel in. The list above shows all that. Now the next time I listen to Dil se, it reminds me of Bhandardara, or when i listen to Fanaa, it seems I am sitting in an Indigo !
Well for one of the list, the preferred vehicle would be a Mercedes SL convertible, and the destination....Goa?
Never been to Goa.

* the year signifies that of the trip and not of the movie release.

How to Get Rich - Donald Trump

Don't expect this book to give you solid, proven by time tips for your business, you have to be a real businessman to recognize where the tip is. After reading two books by Donald Trump, it seems that the man would have been a very good blogger (an he does blog !). His book is not more than candid discussions of how he dealt with people, and how people dealt back to him, more so how to deal with the business you want from them, not precisely at that moment it self, but to recognize in what business the person can help, in the near future. An isolated incident in college gave me two minds on whether should I help people in some work assigned to them, if the person comes to me for help? Well Trump helps raise charity for people he doesn't know, and I talked to Dad about the same, I know he helps his subordinates and colleagues for their work, he told me helping is not bad, then why should some one not be given help? Getting back to Trump, the book has a chapter in which he writes about one typical week in his life, which can give a clear view of how many things one must remember to do if one wants flawless business, flawless life (read: dad, husband, friend, entrepreneur) , and flawless money influx !
