My Role Model - Donald Trump
I came to know about Mr. Donald J. Trump through the television show, The Apprentice. The show televised from where I view (India) is the aired on a channel called Star World, as for me, I am one season behind than the actual show aired on NBC, in the US. Why is it so that Star World aires it one season behind, do we Indians like to stay behind, or are we made to lag behind, or is it something else? So what I last saw was The Apprentice - Season 4.
Coming back to Donald Trump, after seeing him fire/hire on the show, i decided to find out more about him, which came naturally one day when i turned to the History channel, where they were showing a documentary about him. It was quiet interesting on how he managed to get into the real estate scenario by buying a loss-making-slum-like hotel in New York.
After seeing the documentary which also showed him publish a book in his early days, i decided to check out with the local book shop if they had that book, and when I go there, they had all of the books he wrote till now, in the "recently launched" section !! Bought the first book he printed - TRUMP The Art of the Deal. This one was first published in 1987, and in this Mr. Trump writes about his early days, starting from school to getting into the real estate scenario "alone", after a few years of managing his fathers real estate business. He has written in length about his father, Mr. Fred Trump who had a few very ruthless entrepreneurial philosophies, one of them being:
"Push - Push - Push"
which means getting what you desire at your conditions from the opposite party at the cost you decide, and not leaving it till you get it. The book mostly contains narrations by Mr Trump about the kind of odd incidents he went through, and how successfully he changed things-gone-wrong in the then Manhattan real estate scenario.
I consider Mr Donald Trump as the right person with the right ideas at the right time at the right place. One has to be really impressive(read lucky) to get things done according to his/her inner beliefs, and get people ready to do things you want them to do. Which is exactly what Trump did, and got lucky time and again !!
Ever since I read the book, Mr Trump has been a new entrant in my role models' list. Decided to read a few more books he has printed.
